Goed gisteren was een beetje in het water gevallen, voor de anderen wat meer als voor ons maar toch, Okinawa is wat groter als Texel en als je dan om een uur of 12 eindelijk van het vliegveld de stad intrekt en je gaat kijken hoe je het beste bij dat aquarium kunt komen dan kom je er achter dat het met de bus moet.
Nee hier geen JR op dit eiland, alleen maar een monorail die van het vliegveld naar de stad rijdt, 15 haltes, dat is wat Okinawa rijk is aan spoorwegen. Hij rijdt dan ook nog eens met een grote boog om wat je het centrum zou kunnen noemen.
Goed het aquarium vandaag, vroeg in de ochtend naar Naha Busterminal om de eerste van 2 bussen richting het aquarium te pakken, deze zou een goeie 2 uur en 20 minuten onderweg zijn naar een plaats genaamd Nago, daar moet je overstappen op een andere bus die vervolgens nog eens 55 minuten onderweg is. Vandaar dat men bij tourist information nogal opkeek, we hadden geen auto gehuurd en wilde het met de bus doen? Okinawa is blijkbaar beter te doen met de auto, mischien voor een volgende keer toch maar denken aan een auto huren. Spannend want zoals je weet men rijdt daar links.
Goed op weg naar de busterminal, even kijken waar dus express bus (nr. 111) vertrekt. En dan staat daar ineens een taxichaffeur. Waar willen jullie naar toe? Nou naar het aquarium en we waren van plan om de bus te nemen, hij kwam met een interessant voorstel, voor een vast bedrag wel heen en weer rijden naar het aquarium. Het was wel wat duurder als de bus maar ook weer niet zoveel en gezien de afstand die afgelegd zou worden was het eigenlijk een schijntje, moet je maar eens kijken wat het kost om op en neer te rijden naar Schiphol.
En zo hadden we dus een prive chauffeur voor de hele dag, achteraf bleken we voor hem makkelijke klanten geweest te zijn, alleen maar op en neer naar het aquarium en op de terugweg ergens onderweg een happie lunchen. Meestal willen Japanners nog overal stoppen, even daar een fototje maken van het uitzicht, hee taxichauffeur de hele taxi moet plassen!! enz. vul maar in en kleur de plaatjes (maar wel binnen de lijntjes blijven).
Het aquarium is eigenlijk zo'n 13 in een dozijn, okee het ligt op een mooie locatie en ze hebben er van alles. Wat wel indruk maakt is het enorme panorama raam in de grote tank. Niet is dat alleen groot (een wereld record om precies te zijn).
Wat hebben ze in die tank rondzwemmen, haaien, drie walvishaaien, veel roggen, tonijn (of in ieder geval een visbeest die daar op lijkt) en andere vissen. En om dan 3 van die walvishaaien tegelijkertijd naast elkaar door de tank te zien zwemmen is best wel interessant.
Vanwege is taxichaffeur waren we ook weer op een redelijke tijd terug in de stad. Niels moest nog even een boodschap doen, die we dus ook maar gelijk op de post op weg naar Nederland hebben gestuurd. En dan toch eens is die hele lange winkelstraat in Naha opzoeken, we hebben er nu tenslotte tijd voor. Naha is een echte toeristenstad, gezien de hoeveelheid meuk die men daar verkoopt. |
